Zagreb, April 3, 2024 - After the ceremonial opening of the 6th International Congress on Rural Tourism, the second day, which is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024, is filled with lectures, panels, and presentations by experts in the world of rural tourism. tourism. International lecturers, all recognized experts, will share their knowledge with more than 300 Congress participants.

 

The day begins with introductory lectures from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the following order:

Sustainable tourism and smart rural communities is a lecture that will be held by Dora Smolčić Jurdana, president of the Congress Program Committee and professor at the Faculty of Management in Tourism and Hospitality

Global standards for sustainable tourism will be taught by Luigi Cabrini, president of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. He is the author of numerous articles and papers and has led several initiatives on sustainable tourism at the global level, focusing his activities on tourism and climate change, tourism and biodiversity, observatories for sustainable tourism, green economy, tourism and heritage, and global partnerships.

European tourism as a driver of sustainable rural development is the topic of Andreea Staicu, Deputy Head of the Tourism and Textile Unit, DG Grow at the European Commission.

Tourism, general useful functions of forests, and hospitality in Croatian forests will be taught by Josip Šešelj from the Hunting Service at the gold sponsor of the Congress, Hrvatske šume d.o.o.

 

After the end of the first lectures, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., there will be a panel:

New opportunities in rural areas for young people - challenges and opportunities

The panelists are: Sunčana Glavak, Member of the European Parliament, and Zdravko Tušek, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, who will share their knowledge and arguments for the rural progress of young people and encourage the young population to step forward and succeed.

 

From 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., the schedule is:

Dalmatinska marenda/Dalmatian brunch – presentation of a new certified tourist brand and tasting organized by the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Bord

 

Then, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., the second part of the lecture follows:

Wine and premium food tourism in the face of new demand challenges, the role of the supply chain and local policies will be taught by Magda Antonioli, senior professor at Bocconi University and vice president of the ETC (European Travel Commission). She taught at numerous Italian universities and was a visiting professor at numerous world universities (Japan, Spain, Thailand, Chile,...), which further confirms the rich international experience and recognition of Professor Antonioli in the world.

Rural tourism in the context of the Rural Vision and the Common Agricultural Policy is a topic that will be held by Silvia Nanni, at DG Agri, European Commission

• Mariana Golumbeana, head of the Innovation, Technology Transfer and Dissemination Department, Balkan Ecological Association, National Institute for Research and Development of the Sea "Grigore Antipa" ISSE-BENA will also teach.

Sustainability as a key factor in the success of agritourism: experiences from Austria will be presented by Hans Embacher, executive director of the Austrian Farm Holiday Association, Urlaum am Bauernhof. With its consistent quality policy and brand establishment, the Austrian Farm Holiday Association has achieved sustainable, successful development and a strong position in the Austrian tourism and agriculture sector.

 

From 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. there will be a new panel:

Towards the development of smart rural tourism in Europe

The panelists are: Carolina Clark, project manager at the Institute for Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, Karolina Taczanowska from the recognized BOKU University in Vienna, and Andreas Niederl, senior researcher at POLICIES - Institute for Economic, Social and Innovation Policy JOANNEUM RESEARCH. His expertise includes working in the tourism sector for over 15 years, spanning regional, national, and international perspectives.

 

After the working lunch, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., there will be sections, i.e. exhibitions of works and presentations, as well as international experiences in rural tourism, which will connect and network national and international experts.

 

The end of the day is reserved for going to Sinj, along the paths of the Sinj alkars, and spending time together with good music.
