Matija Posavec

Matija Posavec (born 1980 in Čakovec) is the Prefect of Međimurje County. He graduated from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb, earning a Master of Engineering degree, and further specialized in political marketing and public relations. He began his career in media and education and later served as a county spokesperson. Since 2013, he has held the position of Prefect across multiple terms, running as an independent since 2019. He is also active at the European level as a member of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
