The Kovčalija family has been co-creating the tourist image of Ilok and eastern Croatia for 30 years. The development path and investments in tourism have started from catering to accommodation and have reached winemaking. Hotel Dunav has built a concept of providing services that are a rounded experience of the facility and destination in a combination of modern style and the expected recognizability of the region. Development and investments started from the banks of the Danube, and were rounded off by the Ilok vineyards. Hotel Dunav was opened 2005 and has a new face since 2025, when it was opened after a comprehensive renovation completed with the support of the NPOO (National Recovery and Resilience Plan). Increasing the accommodation capacity, raising the quality and investing in new facilities has strengthened the Dunav Hotel as a unique "destination hotel". Since 2024, the experience has been rounded off by the new KAST winery, built on the foundations of the historic Ilok winery.
