Harald Armin Friedl

Dr. Harald A. Friedl is an associate professor of ethics and sustainability in tourism at FH JOANNEUM (Institute for Health and Tourism Management), coordinating the master's program "Quality of Life and Sustainability in Tourism." His background uniquely combines law, philosophy, and hands-on tourism practice as a product developer and tour guide. Current research focuses on the ethics of carbon-intensive travel, systemic strategies for sustainable transformation, and AI and data ethics in tourism. He chairs the Ethics Council at FH JOANNEUM.  Author of numerous publications on sustainability and tourism ethics, he is motivated not least by his two children — a daily reminder of Saint-Exupéry's words: "We have not inherited the Earth from our parents — we have borrowed it from our children."
