Karolina Taczanowska

Priv. Doz. Dr. Karolina Taczanowska is a senior researcher at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. Her expertise covers sustainable tourism and outdoor recreation planning, visitor management, and smart tourism, among other areas.

Currently, she is exploring questions such as how the needs of a digital society can be reconciled with nature and how natural areas can benefit from technological advancements in destination and visitor management. Karolina Taczanowska is the author of significant scientific publications and presentations, delivers science-to-practice lectures, and provides expertise in rural tourist destinations in the Alpine region, the Carpathians, as well as sub-urban forest areas in Austria and Central Europe.

She is open to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation, especially at the intersection of digitalization, nature-based tourism, and transition research. Karolina Taczanowska is an active member of the international Mountain Research Initiative, Science for the Carpathians network, and serves as the national coordinator of the Tourism and Agriculture Sustainable Alliances (TASA) network within the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS).
